Newborn hearing screening is an objective, rapid and non-invasive examination performed by electrophysiological tests such as otoacoustic emission, automatic auditory brainstem response, and acoustic impedance when the newborn is born in a natural sleep or quiet state. Reports at home and abroad show that the incidence of hearing loss between normal newborns and those with high-risk factors is quite different. Normal newborns are about 1%o-3‰, and newborns with high-risk factors are about 2%-4%.
